Dorris-Eaton believes that preschool students are naturally curious and ready to absorb new ideas and information. It is the ideal time to build vocabulary and speaking skills, introduce the basics of reading and math, as well as cultivate children’s fascination with the world around them. Sharing, showing common courtesy and support for others, and working together form the basic springboard from which all activities and projects flow. Through art, music, movement and play, preschoolers develop school readiness skills. The basics of listening, observing, organizing and following directions are woven into every activity. Fine-tuned motor skills—an important factor in school success—are developed as children run, climb, dig, dance, cut, paint, and print. |
